A Love Unspoken, A Goodbye Unheard
The Beginning of Something Beautiful
The first day of class 8 was filled with excitement. The school grounds buzzed with laughter, and the promise of new friendships and adventures lingered in the air. I was playing football with my friends when I first saw her—a new girl standing with her sister. She looked out of place, yet something about her caught my attention. Little did I know, that moment would change everything.
To my surprise, she ended up in my class. Sitting quietly at the last bench, she wore a mask, hiding her expressions. When the teacher asked her to remove it, everyone turned to look at her, and the class fell silent. My friend nudged me, joking, “Who’s going to propose to her first?” I laughed it off, unaware of how significant she would become in my life.
From Strangers to Best Friends
Curiosity led me to find her on Facebook, but the ID I got was old. Not giving up, I found her sister’s profile and left a comment. To my surprise, she replied. That one small interaction turned into something much greater. I sent her a friend request, and when she accepted, our friendship truly began.
We became inseparable. She was in a relationship at the time, but that didn’t stop us from growing close. We shared stories, dreams, and laughter. She understood me in a way no one else did. Eventually, she broke up with her boyfriend, and without any official proposal, we found ourselves in a relationship. There were no dramatic confessions—just a deep, unspoken understanding that we belonged together.
Moments That Felt Like Forever
Our days were filled with beautiful memories. The Rastrapati Cup was a highlight—we cheered for each other, celebrating every small victory like it was the greatest achievement. She was brilliant and talented, while I struggled with studies. Yet, miraculously, I passed the BLE exams with a three GPA, despite barely studying. She laughed at my luck, shaking her head at how I always managed to pull through.
The school picnic was another perfect day. We played games, ran through the fields, and captured every moment in pictures. Sitting under a big tree, we shared snacks and dreams, promising that no matter where life took us, we’d always stay close. During sports week, we teamed up for relay races and tug-of-war, celebrating victories as if they were the most important things in the world.
Off class, we spent hours playing truth or dare. She would hesitate before picking ‘dare,’ only to end up singing in front of the whole group, making us all laugh. Those moments weren’t just games; they were pieces of our story, moments that deepened our bond.
When Happiness Turned to Silence
But nothing lasts forever. As exam season approached, our conversations became less frequent. I felt something changing but didn’t know why. Then, one day, I heard from her sister that she wanted a breakup. She never told me directly—never gave me a reason. The words crushed me. Confused and heartbroken, I confronted her sister, leading to an argument that only widened the distance between us.
And just like that, everything fell apart. The girl who had been my best friend, my love, was suddenly a stranger. The laughter, the promises, the memories—everything faded into silence.
The Love That Stays
Even now, I think about her. I remember her laughter, the way she made ordinary moments feel special. I wonder what could have been if things had gone differently. But some stories don’t get a perfect ending. Some remain as unfinished chapters in the book of our lives.
She may not be in my life anymore, but she will always be a part of me. Love doesn’t always end with a goodbye. Sometimes, it lingers in the echoes of laughter, in the memories of a school picnic, in the unspoken words that were always understood.
And
maybe, just maybe, that’s enough.
